2006 and Me

I dunno why i'm posting this. Debated a while. Decided firmly not to post. And so, naturally, here i am.

New Year Resolutions:

  1. Will not make a new year resolution
  2. Just broke that. Shall stop craving for things tat make life worth living. Read chocolato, coffee, rasagolla, gol gappas et al.
  3. Make sure i do not watch more than 3 hours of movie per week. As in two english or one hindi/tamil. Hmmm....
  4. Think up further ways to revel in bugging the world around me.
  5. Keep room clean. Read be able to find what i want when i want it and not couple of weeks later. :(
  6. Alphabetize and index library and KEEP it tat way.
  7. Break all of this asap. :D
Now, why did i ever bother with that? Beats me.

As my friend's constantly telling me - I need a bath. I need coffee. Double Espresso. Triple while i'm at it. Throw in soulful music. Read iPod. And a hardback and i'm on top of the world.

*BANG* Utopian vision shatters. Back to banalities of life. Two more months till boards. One more till farewell. Few weeks till pre-board. Wow. I love my life.

On a nicer, more maudlin note, today was "stories-of-love" day. Our cherubic God of Love seems to be having one helluva time!!!!! :D

And tempted as i am to post about aforementioned tidbits, i shall be patient and write, check, add nice touches and finally post tomo. :D

Cheerio!!

If...

This is the most realistic and idealistic poem...and one of the most brilliant compostions i've come across.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Disgusting!!

I meant to post a long time ago but couldn't coz of exams.

The rape and murder of a call centre employee, a 24-year-old woman, by a person pretending to be the late night driver of her company transport has sent a chill down the spine of the BPO industry in Bangalore.

-The Indian Express

The rape and brutal murder of a newly-wed woman by a cab driver attached to a call centre has sent shockwaves across the BPO industry, raising grave fears about the safety of its two lakh employees.
The victim has been identified as Prathibha Srikanth Murthy (24), employed by Hewlett Packard (HP) Global Delivery Application Services in Electronic City. She was married to Pavan, working for another BPO called Ocwin Finance in Koramangala.

-The Times Of India

I'm sure all of you are aware of this horrific incident. First it was Kushboo, then the ridiculous "moral policing" in colleges and now this. This is the kind of repugnance that our society has been reduced to. What makes it all the more worse is that inconsiderate and insensitive people think it's their birthright to give judgemental and retrograde opinions on the matter.

Apparently our generation is supposed to be the future of the Indian Democracy. It repulsed me to hear some of my peers throw careless remarks at such a serious issue.

Imagine my disgust when i open my mailbox and find an e-mail which forwards pictures of the poor girl, claiming that it was because she was "provocatively" dressed that the driver decided to rape her. And provocative would be jeans and a short tee. For crying out loud!!

If this so-called educated society can be so narrow-minded so as to even suggest something so stupid, then there really is no hope for us to evolve into better individuals.

This is the 21st century for the love of god! If you cannot handle girls dressing in western outfits, I don't think you even belong here! Dressing in salwars and saris(which incidentally was voted the "sexiest" outfit in a survey conducted among Indian men) doesn't indicate culture and values any more than dressing in micros indicates promiscuity. You either accept and adapt yourselves to the changing culture and globalisation or, frankly, jump off a cliff!

For all you people (men and women) who are of the aforementioned opinion, please broaden your minds! And get your facts right. The whole rape and murder was planned. It wasn't as if the driver saw her clothes and "spontaneously" decided to rape her. So, any moron can understand that her clothes had nothing to do with it.

I'm quoting a friend here.

"Whats the solution? If she was wearing a full armed t shirt none of this would have happened? or would it be better if she was wearing a pardah? hey mayybe she just shouldn't be allowed to step out of the house. wait a minute. that sounds familiar. oh yeah, thats the taliban system im talkin about!"

We don't need to take over from the Taliban and start imposing those ridiculous notions here!

You say western outfits are provocative but why then do girls dressed in salwar kameez get jeers and cat-calls hurled at them when they walk the streets?? Or why is it that over 60% of all the rapes and sexual abuses in India in the slums and regions of lower-economic status??

It is our society and our mentality that has to change - not the clothes or the culture!

Birthday Bumper!!!

Two days since yours truly turned all of 17 !!!

-> I tried explaining that to my mom when she insisted that she feed me a bowl of sorry looking salad with unidentifiable veggies. In vain. My only consolation was that it contained a considerable amount of mayonnaise which i happily slurped! :P

-> Had math exam on 15th. Sulked the day before. Trudged through 300 odd problems. Stayed up till 2. Rose at 5. Slogged some more. Got all excited when i got family presents.
Pick of the lot - Mom's crocodile skin purse. (i am a firm supporter of the SPCA but it was so gorgeous!!)

-> Went to school. Got swooped on by friends and all and sundry for sole reason of possessing two huge packets of toffees. Jeez. Looked on while aforementioned sundry helped themselves. Best friend was kind enough to let it drop with about 12 of 'em! Wasn't complaining.

-> Came home. Got phone calls from long, long lost friends and rivals too. Very satisfied and at peace with the world. Was a picture of contentment.

-> Today. End of torturous exams. Necessary evil they claim. Bah! Day off. Frizzled the time away. Went out. Treated friends(with V). LMAO. Reason being two very very very comical pals. Blew an entire grand. Got very pretty kurti as birthday gift.

-> Came home grinning and all happy to face the smoldering glare of the kid sis still plagued by those awful things they call exams. Anticipated this. Ergo, got her richest cake I could find. Positively smothered with chocolato. Sister pacified. Peace reigns.

-> Here I am. Typed out chronological unfolding of birthday events. Read through. Spell Checked. Satisfied.

-> Sandman beckons. Day dawns early tomorrow. Yours truly will get into serious mode and start intense preparation for forthcoming necessary evils.

-> Arrivederci e Acclamazioni

Invictus

One of my all-time favourites.

Out of the night that covers me
Black as the pit from pole to pole
I thank whatever Gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced, nor cried aloud
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade
And yet, the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unfraid.

It matters not, how strait the gate
how charged with punishments, the scroll
I am the Master of my fate
I am the Captain of my soul.

Push or Pull - That Difficult??

Post Inspired By – RA.V

Intro meant primarily for RA.V. :D Others may kindly scroll down to the actual post few lines later!!

Doors that open one way or the other almost always have PUSH or PULL written on them. Well, that’s common knowledge and so much for a good start to this post. :D

Anyways, people are generally expected to conform to the sign and do as instructed. Some people, however, manage to do exactly what’s not expected!! Like aforementioned friend!!! :D

Now others welcome to read also.

Comp. Sci. Lab. Friend and me highly frustrated on reading stupendous article and petrified on learning it was awarded first place and about to go into the school magazine. We fussed because we were supposed to be editing all articles!!

In a huff, full of tick-offs and fuming at the standards of English, ventured out into different section of the lab. Was looking around aimlessly when BANG!!!!! :O
RA.V strikes again!!! Door said PULL, Madame pushes. Result: door opens the wrong way and gets stuck and almost broken!!!!! That whole section of the lab went ROTFL, computers included….and yes, I’m very much aware they cannot laugh but bear with me.
RA.V looks bewildered, says “Whaa..?!” and bursts out laughing too!!! Then frantically starts calling “TB, TB!!!”. (TB is classmate beyond the door, who apparently didn’t’ give a damn!!!) Yours truly, of course, in uncontrollable with giggles!!!!! : ))

In due course, classmate is kind enough to help and get door un-jammed!!! And, obviously RA.V, you’ll never hear the end of this!!!!!!! Ha Ha!!!

P.S: Love u like the klutz you are!!!!!! :D

Bridget Jones's Diary

Before you can say anything........yes, i know the book came out eons ago and yes, i admit it's bin rotting away in my library thru said eons. Well, was rummaging thru the library in a valiant effort to get the immense pile of books in order....but of course, in vain.

Discovered aforementioned book under a couple of whopping language-help books. Cheered by prospect of some light reading in a long while, greedily began reading book abandoning supposedly more crucial things.....umm, like math. And, well.....continued reading......some more......on and on.

Virtually un-put-downable!!! Helen Fielding (the author), i swear, is a comic genius!!!!! Gloriously funny book!!! Haven't laughed so much in ages and ummm....yea, fallen down the bed in the process.....*sheepish look* !!! Anyways.....this book goes down in my list of favourites!!!!!! Ha Ha!!! :D

What does your score mean?

According to your sleep hygiene score you are aware of your body's sleep cues, but you don't always respect them! You need make sleep a priority by really tuning in to your body's needs for sound and uninterrupted sleep. Though you do follow some of the rules for good sleep hygiene, there are still several issues you need to work on before attaining the ultimate sleep regime.

Honestly! worst test i've come across!! and the Advice and Tips for "drifting off to dreamland" - abominable!!!!!!!!!!! :O

....

I guess this happens to everyone. Everywhere.

Looking back, I’ve a feeling that the last four years of my life have whizzed past. In a turbulent whirlpool of people, events, things and matter.

Looking back, I begin to grasp what these last few months in school mean to me.

Looking back, though not wanting to….

I realized, with a jolt, that come April, I’d actually be out of school. And come June, they’d be no scramble for last minute things do – uniforms, shoes, stationery. : )

No more rush for seats on first day of school, no more timetables and why-haven’t-you-brought-your-books, no more familiar faces yelling, “Oye! How was hols?!!”

I guess it happens always – this bittersweet pang of parting….and of new things yet to come.

How Narayan Murthy Reached The Top at Infosys!!

Gratuitous Day Off!!

Hurrah for my first, real post in a loooong time!!! :D

The rains have done it yet again!!

It’s a beautiful, beautiful day and we have the day off from school!! Yippee!! For yours truly, the day dawned nice and early at four-thirty thanks to an overly obligated and committed mom, who has made it her personal mission in life to get me up early and studying!!

So, you could well say that the phone call at 6 45 which went thus, brought one hell of a grin to my face!!

Me (glad for the diversion): Hello…
Pal on fone: HIE!!!!!! GUESS WHAT? GUESS WHAT? NO SCHOOL! NO SCHOOL!
Me: WOW! Okay, stop saying stuff twice over!! Very kewl…are you sure??
Pal: Positive!! Got about 10 msgs just now and UV’s confirmed too. (UV is our too-smart-for-her-blue-pants…erm..saris VP).

Me to mom (bouncing up and down and grinning): Ha!! We don’t have school!! We don’t have school!! (Very sing-song and latching on to the saying things twice thing!!)

But, apologizing to all my cheerily vetti friends, on a personal front, I really don’t think this holiday was in order! I mean, I’m not against hols and nor am I overly fond of school but c’mon…who wants to have the day off on Monday and work full day Saturday?!! Well, I don’t for sure!!

On the 27th of Oct., when the gods decided it was time we saw the most fantastic display of waterworks, the rain lashed with a vengeance at Chennai, ravaging it. Justifiably, we had a holiday that day. The next day, incredibly, the weather was as innocent and clear as can be! Not a vestige of the previous day’s torrential downpour!! That day was, to our delight, a holiday too!!

My point here is that, shouldn’t the schools and the Met. Dept. be researching the weather better before they declare the day off on clear days?? And in case of our school, make us poor things work the weekend??
Like today for instance, the weather news presaged a storm and hail for the next 48 hours, but all I can see as I peer through my window is a merry breeze blowing its way through trees – not a hint of clouds or rain!

And Apparently....

You are a descriptive writer. An avid reader of
Robert Frost, perhaps, you LOVE to use flowery
words and use the paper and pen as your canvas
and paintbrush. You prefer to paint a mental
image rather than simply toy around with
people's minds. A very inspired person, you
love to be in nature and usually are a very
outdoorsy type of person. A writer with a
natural green thumb, perhaps?

Arrivederci - At Least For Now

The contents of this post reflect not what i want to do, but what i, alas, have to do.

As it is, i'm letting FreakSpace rot....posting only intermittently. I regret the fact that i will be able to post much less frequently than now, if at all.

It's exactly 8 minutes and 46 seconds since i wrote that. I've been staring at the monitor ever since thinking random thoughts that refuse to be put coherently into words.

Fact of the matter is, we're in October and i'm.....let me count....five months from my boards and six months from my JEE and other CETs. The Exams that will decide how, where, when and with what people i spend the next four years of my life. Put like that, it sounds way scary.

As per common and personal belief, it's time i bucked up, became serious, studied 15 hours a day and slogged my butt off!! Well, that's that. And that's why you won't be hearing my raves and rants as occasionally as you're accustomed to for a few more months.

So Long - Auf Wiedersehen!!

Me an Easy Rider!!! :D

Took 45 questions to get the comp to say something the whole world already knows!!! Take the test sometime!! Cheers!!

Let's Go Shopping.....Hilarious!!!!

Last two weeks was exams galore!!!!! shall blog about the torments, tortures and distortions of that when i'm in a peevish pique!!! For now, check out our typical guy friend's hapless shopping exploit with typical girl pal!!!!!! :D
Courtesy: Forward frm aforementioned friend V!!!

10:45 am:
Female friend declares intention to buy women's clothing

10:52 am: Author's heart resumes beating and partial activity returns to both lobes of brain

11:20 am: Enter Spencer's Plaza

11:25 am: Decide to buy women's clothing first as we only have 4 hours left before the movie and she needs the time

11:30 am: Decide to visit Pantaloons first

11:32 am: Black t-shirt right length too tight

11:42 am: Maroon t-shirt right fit but too short

11: 43 am: Green t-shirt in right length and fit but not available in pink. Pink has been declared as favourite colour

11:45 am: Author suggests pink t-shirt that seems right in fit and length. Severe feedback received on the unsuitability of colour of piping. Author requested to refrain from further comment or input

11:47 am: Wonderful yellow t-shirt. She loves it. Things looking good. She asks the Author if she looks fat in it. Author mentions slight tightness around the arms. 10 minutes of abuse evenly split between author and t-shirt. Mothers of both briefly referred to.

11:50 am: Pantaloon found to be severely short on choice, colours and sizes. Female anger let loose on security guard. Cashier however is politely spoken to as he is cute.

12:00 pm: Westside endowed with our attention and time. Initial reaction positive. The lighting highlights complexion well and air conditioning is just right. Saleswomen not hot. Things looking good.

12:05 pm: Kurti in orange has bad red embroidery

12:06 pm: Kurti in orange without embroidery is too plain. I suggest nice brown sleeveless shirt. Curtly reminded of previous request to "SHUT UP WHEN I AM DECIDING!!!"

12:07 pm: Kurti in orange with just the right embroidery. Hurrah. No wait. She already has similar top. Damn.

12:08 pm: Pink t-shirt is perfect but way too tight. Pink is a horrible colour. I agree. Maroon is actually the favourite colour. I am hungry. I agree to that too.

12:15 pm: NO ONE WEARS T-SHIRTS ANYMORE. Absolutely I say. Button down shirts here we come.

12:16 pm: Asked to check if neck is too deep. I take my time to decide. Almost gets slapped. No guys around to notice. Phew

12:20 pm: Suggest lunch break. Heavy plastic hanger with metal clips misses right eyeball by inches. Sorry.

12:30 to 2:30 pm: Finally the perfect blue loose shirt with a spot-on neck and an immaculate print design on the front. She tries it on and I tell her she looks like Phoebe in one of the episodes in season 4. This time hanger does not miss. Ouch.

3:00 pm: Paid for the top and it's in the bag. We proceed to the men's section.

3:05 pm: Two shirts, one t-shirt and a pair of jeans tried, packed and paid for. She complains of too much delay and possible missing of movie. I briefly mention the difficulty of shopping with one eye in bandage.

Well....so much for the feel good day our man was looking for!!!!!!! Cheers!!!!!!!

Trust me....when i start working, i'm gonna make SURE tat i get a job tat does NOT involve chasing cumbersome deadlines!!!!! :O

Physics record, chem record, physics, chem and so on and so forth. As if tat's not very nice, we had this irritating-to-the-power-infinity exam on electrical gadgets, typewriting theory, physical education and health!! wow!!!

I agree written work is essential for formation of good study habits. (i apologize!!!) But TWENTY experiments in each record is a trifle too many!!! Disagreeing is not allowed!!!! Well.....i prefer that we don't go into facts such as i had to submit it a month back and was lazy to do it!! Ahem...better left alone!!

Gist of Last Week (22/8 to 28/8)

Day 1:

Me: (philosophically) Expect the Unexpected!!!
--------------------------

Me: Ma'am, my record. Where do i leave it?
Ma'am: Record a? I don't correct records now. Too late ma.

After a lot of maska and a lot of this-won't-happen-agains,
Ma'am: Well...apdiya....seri ma....keep it here n go. Make sure you don't do it again!!!
Me: (very sincerely) Yes ma'am...surely ma'am....definitely ma'am!!

My Cousin Jus' Got Married!!!

Hola!!!
Spare me the glares, mutters and after-how-long looks!! I know i'm blogging after an entire two weeks...do forgive!!!

The reason being my cousin's wedding!! yaay!! :D And whatta wedding it was!! Fantabulous!! So many things to do....so many new ppl to meet....lots of fun, gossip, tension, laughter, non veg jokes, flirtations, cute guys (in sherwanis!! ;)), cousins, great clothes n jewellery....it's endless... truly, there's nothing to beat a "family wedding"!!!!

Well...this cousin of mine is on my mum's side...so we had your average marwari wedding...big, lavish, lotsa food and even more masti!!!
On 17th, we had the mehendi ceremony which i think is self-explanatory!! On 18th was the Sangeet. Here the bride's cousins and relatives perform for the couple....it's basically a lot of gaana bajaana and lot of dancing and entertainment!!! Yours truly sang (oye!! no sniggers!!) churaliya hai tumne....which incidentally got a lot of applause!! (Pointed Look!!)

Anyway, the wedding was scheduled on the 19th which also happened to be Raksha Bandhan. This being a very traditional occasion, we had a rakhi ka function in the morning. Frankly speaking...it was the best part of the wedding as i grossed about 11.3 grand!!!! :D Don't bother being j !!!! It's almost triple wat i usually make!! Tatz coz all my bro's frm all over the planet were there for the wedding!!! Right now...me on cloud nine, seventh heaven!! :D

The main wedding was at Le Royal Meridien....A typical Monsoon Wedding!!

The timing couldn't have bin more perfect!! Just as the baraat was getting ready to leave, the clouds burst over a sizzling Chennai!!! The downpour looked as if it would never stop!! Well...the sad thing is the groom got totally drenched in his sherwani!!! Not a pretty sight, i'll say!! Leastways, everyone got into the spirit of things and we had a pretty big, if soaked, baraat to welcome!! Then we had the old formalities, pheras, vows et al.

I'm thinking....it's no fun jus telling you how it was!!! Better to actually see things ain't it??? No worries...me will be posting photos soon enough!! Look Out!!!

Till then....adios amigos!!!!!!!

Friendship Day!!!

First of all wishing all of you a very very happy Friendship Day!!

"Friendship day is such a waste of time!!", claims a friend of mine when i wished him this morning while another goes, "Friendship day a?? You actually believe in crap like that?!!" while yet another gushes, "Everyday is a celebration of Friendship!! Why just one day??". And it goes on and on....

Different people with different opinions. To each his own. Well...that's that.

Whatever the sundry say I like Friendship Day...if only for the gifts, phone calls and sms-es i get!! Who wouldn't get all happy when their inbox is filled with cute messages and the phone's not far behind!!! :D

Anyway, today is just an excuse, if not anything else, to tell a friend just how special they are to you and how much meaning they add to your life!! I did...and hope you did too!! Oh...also rope in few surprises, some gifts and sweet nothings to the more special ones!! Trust me....it'll make their day!! And that will make yours!!!

Ok...getting too maudlin, am I!!! Bear with me!! I'm feeling absolutely on top of the world!! (Though my math test this morning went down the drain!!)

To love is nothing,

Bheege Bheege Mausam in Namma Chennai!!

Yes, folks!!! It's actually raining buckets...scratch tat....barrels in chennai!!! Not that anyone's complaining. The swell weather we're having the last couple o' days is a welcome relief frm the frizzling heat!! Only thing is, it should last. Varied speculation claims it will as the "monsoon" season in chennai has arrived....for the time being!! Say so coz weather here has bin so erratic, its advisable to expect the unexpected. Like downpour during agninakshatram....:).

My friend n i thought we'd exploit the super weather and went to the beach. All was well, until a cloud decided to burst right above us!! Well, obviously we were soaked and then it was Planet Yumm to the rescue!! We weren't in any hurry tho....jus put those vulnerable cellphones in and strolled in there(yea rite!!).....completely wet!!! Ouch.....i'll admit tat was majorly stymying!! We sat right under a fan so we (so to say i) could dry off, the effect being me shivering sans chattering teeth. While in the process, our tummies began craving attention(more my frend's!!). So a panipuri, pav bhaji and garlic bread were in order, dontcha think?? we did at least!! :P Me, being as drenched as i was, didn't have much of an appetite. And tat's saying something for me!! Tat didn't stop me frm eating tho. No way!

Finally, when we chance to look outdoors, we find the whole rain rigmarole has cleared up. Talk about things happening only to us!! Infuriating! And to top it all, jus when we stepped out, it began drizzling again!!!!! Hmpf!! If you got the impression tat i hate getting wet, chuck tat outta your head!!! I revel in water!! it's jus tat it's not very pretty to get wet when you're wearing this thin cotton kurta....if you get my drift!! Kurta aside, it was a smashing evening!!!

Jus for the record, my friend n i firmly decided against coming to the beach in our "super-sexy" weather. Nope!

The Half-Blood Prince - Wat Else??!!

Well, well, well......two days since the much-awaited release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and i can still see my sis jumping on the couch going, "ooh!! itz here suru!! itz here!! so awesome!!!". Hehehe!!! I can see all those temme-about-it looks!!!

Spoiler: The following write up may contain information that if revealed (to fans who haven't read the book yet) will cause unfathomable consequences. So all of u yet to read...STAY OUT!! Tats if u don't wanna know wat happens! :D

Anyway, i finished the book sunday morning and i must confess, Rowling has excelled herself(in most parts anyway!!). The thing that sets this book apart is that there is a lot more explanation for things in the previous books than action and more action. You know, the things which made us go, "Hey!! how can tat happen??!!" or "Hmmmm......"!! In this book, we actually get to understand the working behind the evil, obnoxious, repugnant......sorry, gotta little carried away!! Oh yes...the working behind the malicious mind of Voldy. Also, why he didn't get killed when he cursed Harry, how he's been surviving for so long and how his followers and him hav plotted all this while!!! That's a LOT!!!

Now to scrutinise the not-s0-good parts. I really think that Rowling could have underplayed the Lavender-Ron snoggin-all-over-the-place thing. Lolz!!! Now that was beyond hilarious!!!!!! When i say Ron, read Won-Won!! ROTFL!!! That part of the book was grossly exaggerated. I mean, you turn 4 pages and there they are again!!!!!!! :) Best part is, they split even before the action began!!!!
Another aspect is Dumbledore. The man whom we've bin seeing as the quiet, laid back, contemplative head-master is suddenly pushed into spotlight. I don't mean his death. Its just tat i've grown used to him being so inconspicuous throughout the book and in the end he just comes and gives you this big-time funda and goes. Out of the blue here, he has this i'm-the-cleverest-wizard aura which doesn't become him too much. Admitted he is but....!!! Phrases like "me, being the clever wizard i am" or "since i'm cleverer than most men" pervade his usually unassuming style of speech. Now tat wasn't so good!!!
Well, the climax.....it's indescribable!!! It was just Brilliant!!! I actually cried when i read The Phoenix Lament and The White Tomb. And i don't cry that easily!!! :P We can actually feel that huge impact this character has made on every Potter fan. Each page of these chapters exudes the emotion and sentiment that people attach to Dumbledore. Kudos to Rowling here!!!
Me jus wanna say....all of you BETTER read the book!!! The bottom line is - its awesome!!! You'll enjoy every page of it!!!! Cheers!!!!!

Arrey!!!!!!! howzzat fair???!! i'd asked for them precisely so that i could mail n show them!! Chuck it!! I don't even mind dat.....but then he gets all hyper and talks as if i'd jus do wat i want even if he doesn't like it!!! Wat a doofus!!!!!!! :O :O

on a nicer note, we had an essay competition today. me had to write on "I, Me, Myself" which i think i wrote kind of decently.....well...ok....it was royal crap!!!!! hehehe!!!!!! also came up with one of those crazy, inane, juvenile poems of mine!!! lolz.....my frend went, "you're crazy di....absolutely!! how do you come up with stuff like tat??!!!". I must confess, it was pretty amusing.....read ROTFL!!! :D

Cheers!!!!

Sip the Vodka!!! Woo !!

Check out!!! This one is sooooooo hilarious, i still can't stop laughing!!! :D

A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak.

After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done.

The monsignor replied, “ When I am worried about getting nervous On the
pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get
nervous, I take a sip.”

So next Sunday he took the monsignor’s advice.
At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink.
He proceeded to talk up a storm.

Upon his return to his office after the mass, he found the following note on
the door:

Sip the vodka, don’t gulp.
There are 10 commandments, not 12.
There are 12 disciples, not 10.
Jesus was consecrated, not constipated.
Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass.
We do not refer to Jesus Christ as the late J.C.
The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not referred to as Daddy, Junior and the
spook.
David slew Goliath, he did not kick the shit out of him.
When David was hit by a rock and was knocked off his donkey, don’t say he
was stoned off his ass.
We do not refer to the cross as the “Big T.”
When Jesus broke the bread at the last supper he said, “take this and eat it
for it is my body.” He did not say “ Eat me” .
The Virgin Mary is not called “ Mary with the Cherry."
The recommended grace before a meal is not: Rub-A-Dub-Dub thanks for the
grub, Yeah God.
Next Sunday there will be a taffy pulling contest at ST.Peter’s not a peter
pulling contest at St. Taffy’s.

Of Obsessions.....

Main Entry: ob·ses·sion
Pronunciation: äb-'se-sh&n, &b-
Function:
noun1 : a persistent disturbing preoccupation with an often unreasonable idea or feeling; broadly : compelling motivation
2 : something that causes an obsession- ob·ses·sion·al /-'sesh-n&l, -'se-sh&-n&l/
adjective- ob·ses·sion·al·ly adverb

Hmmm....make what you will of that. That, dear friend, is what an obsession is according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Anyway, the reason why i feel the need to blog about an abstract thought such as this is pretty complicated and i'm not so sure i know it myself. So let's jus spare it!!

Right now there is no short of obsessions in my life.....nor are my kith, kin and friends in any particular deficit of it. See, basically i'm obsessed with everything that's worth obsessing on. hehehe!!! ok ok....i know you think i've basically lost it and are gonna shut this window!!! Well...it's a democratic country. Suit yourselves!!!

Still reading i see.....well, where were we? Oh yes....Obsessions. Let me see, i talked to my friend about this and she was of the opinion that at any point of time in life, everybody has to have an obsession. Period!! Like take her case.
When she was 3 - teething toys. 8 - Lego Blocks. 13 - SV books (yuck!). 15 - the PHONE!!!. 17 - some smart-ass guy. And now......the same smart-ass guy!!! hehehe!!!

Ooookay!!! I can see those eyes narrowing and those fists clenching!!! Hold it mate!!!

Basically, i'm obsessed about something!!! About what....slight a let's jus chuck that!! It's just that it's been a passion ever since i can remember and now i'm being asked to hurl all of that outta the window!!!!! waaah!!! I did tell my mom. And my mom went "Hmmmm..." for such long time!! And protracted hmmms are NOT a good sign!! Well...anyway....she jus thought she'd better leave me to my antics lest i get it into my head to start bugging her for everything i can't find from pins to papers and umbrellas to underwear!!! She can't endure q's which start with, "amma...where is...."!!! hehehe!!!!!!!

Anyway, i guess as long as my obsessions, eccentricities and idiosyncrasies don't encroach in on the padipz territory of my brain......i will continue to have them and make the most of their vetti contribution!!!!! So there!!!!!!

Prison Of Thought.....

Stuck where no one else can enter
Caged in my own misery
Left to fight with my own temper
Chained to the madness inside me

Sealed in a prison with no exit
Locked away in my regret
Trying to fend off my emotions
But they're too strong in my own head

I screamed out
With mute shout
But no one came to save me
I grabbed me
And stabbed me
In vain I tried to break free

Arrested
M olested
In blind rage madly I fought
But locked up
Now I'm stuck
In my own Prison of Thought

Wandering through the darkest shadows
Trying to escape this hell
Breaking down the walls to move on
Right into another cell

Tortured by sadistic pleasure
Bearing self inflicted pain
Trying to control the Anger
Building up inside my brain

Well....about Hayden Christensen........i completely agree tat hez tall, very cute and looks drop dead gorgeous!! but ppl, he can't act for two pennies!!!!!!! All those completely intense scenes...in which Palpatine tells him the truth about the dark side and the sith n all........and all hayden can find to say is "yes, master. yes, master" with that idiotic blank expression on his face and his absolutely phlegmatic voice!!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!!!!!!!

Obi Wan Kenobi is sooooooooo good!!!!!!!! and the fight between obi wan and anakin is nothing short of spectacular!!! trust me on dat one!!!!!!! When anakin burns and he the sith lord finds him and resurrects him as Darth Vader. that first breath he takes......wow!!!! takes your breath away!!!!!! hehehe!! Back wid a Bang!!!

Hola!!
I guess i'm blogging after quite a hiatus....well....that's thanks to the fact that my internet hours ran out and my dad, being the typical taurean he is, has firmly dug his heels into the ground and is refusing point blank to renew it. jeez!! anywayz...there just might be this tiny, teensy-weensy possibility that he might get me a broadband...on second thoughts, i better change it to an ADSL connection(as a friend of mine is constantly on my case abt this!!!) which i think is a pretty good reward for me being a good girl all thru!!! :D Hez basically considering this coz i've bin bugging him like crazy saying i have to do my external projects and tat i need a LOT of info frm the net!!! he he he

Well, right now the sun on my horizon is the fact that my papa got me a mobile!! yaaay!!! :D it was purely incidental though!!...he just was in a very good mood and i managed to sneak in my petition and voila.....he said, "no problem beta, we'll get it today". and i'm like totally gaping at him and thinking, "wha...??! i heard right??"....lol!!! :D Itz this absolutely sexy nokia 6610...black!!! I didn't realize how preoccupied i was with it and how much i was stuck on it. One night, when i was gazing at my phone, my mom comes in and says, "Now, when are you gonna end this love affair wid your cell phone???". and i'm thinking.....jeez...i ain't that bad, am i?!! he he he

Among other things, my time is majorly occupied by a heap of classes and mornings and nights blend into each other while i desperately try and figure out what to study next, this or that and end up doing both things, neither properly!! :O lolz....anywayz we're having an IIT chem screening test t'row.....all credit goes to our lovely prof. Santhanam. God!! hez such a sadist!!!! can't believe him....we jus had this abslolutely mortifying problem test a fortnight back. he royally raped us!!!! jeeezzz...anywayz...this chapter i'm studying frm MnB doesn't seem to get over at all....going on and on and on. Hmmm....

Me went to Ju and Jim's place the last two dayz....major kalaichifying there!!! god, it was heights!!!!!! and all for majorly dumb things .....yeeeewww!!!! :P had fun though.....lotta gossip, matter and major updating on whoz done wat, whoz going out wid who and whoz the latest peter n the works basically!!!

Slight a, i thnk i should get bak to organic chem or i'm definitely flunking my test t'row...to make this nightmare worse...itz gonna b +3 -1....cha cha!!!!!! till i blog next (god knows when).......adios amigos!!!!!!!!

Two Classes, A Bummer and A Night Out

Hello all you beautiful people!!!! First of all, for all of you who're wondering what the rope picture is all about.....actually nothing!! :P Just that it's one of my most favourite photographs. I just think that there is a lot of perspective it....hmm. Anyway, i'm sure none of you got that. No pretending!! :D

That apart, today was a BAD day. In the sense that, i'm sore all over my body (youch!!) and my head's full of chem kinetics and applications of derivatives!!! ouch!! ouch!! n OUCH!! This is precisely coz i had class frm 12-30 to 8-30....i.e. left for class at 12:30. A huge foodie like me was forced, due to unpleasant circumstances, to survive on a single club sandwich for over EIGHT hours!!! :O :O :-| Now, ain't dat sad??? You Bet!!! Well, miracle is that i survived thru both the classes.....TRS classes are actually enjoyable but Santhanam!!!!! Whoa!!!! Its heights in mokkai!!!! Of course hez an awesome teacher n all dat.....he takes well also....but his so-called, supposed jokes........God save us!!! :O

Now, the impossibly abyssmal news is that, we don't get a break from TRS class in the summer! :((
And why is that you might ask......because believe it or not we don't get holiday coz he's not going for a vacation!!!! :O :O How d'you like that??!!!! And we're supposed to put up with 3 hour classes in scorching May!!! No vacation!!!!

Well, tat winds up the two classes and bummer part!!!!

Upside of the whole thing is that my cousin...remember shreya?? the one in the first post?? ....Yeah, she's here for a sleep over!!! :D.....So, i'm actually bringing this blog to shape while incessantly jabbing wid her. Its 1.35 on the clock and we're still chatting away to glory!!! :D So, my parents took us out for dinner tonight to the club. We had some awesome butter naan n paneer sabji !!! yum! hmm....and after dat....came home, switched the AC on and started gabbing!! I tell you....both of us are the Queens of the Gab!!!! :D

Okay, i wrote this post precisely because itz days since i blogged and thought that my blog deserved at least this minimal care. Until later, Adios!!

A Peek into My Supposed Vacation...:(

Owing to the awfully sexy weather we're having in chennai, i was curled up in bed with the Silence of the Lambs(by Thomas Harris) which i'm reading for the nth time, i might add. Pensive and plunged in thought about the psychotic, psychopaths and the intrinsic intricacies of the human mind, my mom's "ARE YOU STUDYING??" came as a rude shock, detonating (literally) in my ear. Cursing the phenomenal potency of her vocal chords, i proceeded to shout back that i was, while in the meantime i was shoving the book under my pillows!! phew!! narrow escape, that!!

The fact that i'm in the 12th now never ever fails to hit me BANG in the face. Books are my be all
and end all!! i'm simply obsessive about books and voraciously read more than what is healthy!! every vacation i have to read a minimum of at least 30 books. and now, suddenly, being told to abandon my insatiable appetite for reading for the seemingly "more productive" things in life like school work, IIT assignments, tests, revision etcetera to name a few, is more than what my psyche and intellect can possibly put up with! i don't even mind not blogging or not coming online as much as mind THIS!! :O :O

Now, you'd have probably guessed the genesis of this out-of-the-blue outburst of indignance. If you did not, this is the moment of truth....yes..i had the "talk" with the parental units at home. I'm really not willing to go into the insipid details of the now-that-you're-in-12th-u-better-get-serious lecture. NO! the gist of the sermon(:P) is that i'm supposed to give up all else other than anything under the "STUDIES AND KNOWLEDGE" banner for the whole of next year. For all you people out there, shaking you're heads and murmuring, "its just a year and of course, sacrifices have to be made" as you read this post...yea, yea i already kno all that and also know that it is only in my interest that these things have to be done. Nevertheless. What has to be, has to be.

*Update*
- i've qualified into all my IIT 2nd year classes...yaay! :D
Very tight Schedule
Saturday, Sunday - afternoon - Math
Monday, Thursday - evenings - Physics
Tuesday, Saturday - evening - Chem
Wednesday - evening - Physics classes
Wow!! i actually get friday free.....invariably it'll be spent either in special classes or at
home puzzling over extensively complex IIT probs.. :(
*End of Update*

well, to write of today, nothing very mind blowing happened....had trs class in the morning...a whole, solid 3 n half hours!! whoa!! i don't mind that much tho!! his classes are really fun...and NO i'm not a padipz and neither am i a pazham....so don't get any ideas!! :D

then in the evening, i barged into my atthai's house :D...and went to the madhava perumal kovil (yea, yea, chamathu iyer ponnu all the rest of it!! ;)). After that, however, i haven't done anything that's even remotely useful let alone contributing to increase my "knowledge". he he he!!

Ok, my brain thinks that i've let you in on my life enough and that the rest of the story should be
left till later. So, complying with my brain's request and acting under its threats to go blank, i sign off for tonight...:D

Of Innately Meandering Thoughts...

When the mind goes haywire....
--------------------------------------
On Monday, when the sun is hot
I wonder to myself a lot:
Now is it true, or is it not,
That what is which and which is what?
On Tuesday, when it hails and snows
The feeling on me grows and grows
That hardly anybody knows
If those are these or these are those.
On Wednesday, when the sky is blue,
And I have nothing else to do,
I sometimes wonder if it's true
That who is what and what is who.
On Thursday, when it starts to freeze
And hoar-frost twinkles on the trees,
How very readily one sees
That these are whose- but whose are these?
On Friday-
(sadly, this was never finished, due to an inopportune interlude...)

ok...now you might start to think i'm slighty off my rocker....but you see when your so bored, so bored, so bored that you actually read the international and business section of the newspaper and become genuinely worried about the rise and fall of the stock market.......this is the consequence. :|

right now i'm very happy....about what, i haven't the foggiest idea...but elated all the same. may be its the fact that i did my chem assgn well or may be it is because i'm actually gonna BUNK my english class tomorrow......oh my GOD!!
i should really tell you about this teacher called LV......she is THE most lackluster person you could EVER find to teach english to a class of briliant minds like ours...:O
One thing though.....she is actually awesome company if you want to research the psychology, philosophy and perspective of old english movies or classics....like something around the period of The Last Tango in Paris or Carnal. She'll go on and on and on about how she loved those movies as a teen n all dat...OH MY GOD!!!(chandler bing style ;)).

Anyways, to my immense relief and my mom's even more immense satisfaction, i thnk i've come up to date with ALL my studs. :O....Right now i'm actually wondering if i have anything, which falls in the "study" loop, pending. Happily, as far as my brain can reach out.....Nothing.

As far as comp. sci. goes.....i think i generally know wat files in c++ is about....the concept basically. But thr r these two most obtuse functions called get and put...about whose functions and usage i know nil. To get to know more though, i'll hav to browse thru C++'s most useless help column and try to navigate my way to get and put. Once that is done, all i hav to do is try and understand wat its supposed to do at least to a reasonable extent. Sounds simple enough. An easier solution would be to just call my bro and ask him about it. Surely he'd know. Well, he should know. :|

7:36 on the clock and i've managed to while a whole half day without doing anything productive. Well, its an inner battle between the my two frames of mind. Now.....a half of me says,
"WHAT???? u actually spent 5 hours 36 minutes and 43 seconds just doing nothing?? How much more redundant can you get? if redundant is the word i want. Now what is done is done....go now, RIGHT NOW and stick your nose in a book and STUDY for crying out loud!!!"
Another half says, "C'mon dude!! chillax.....what's thr to study...you've done all tht u had to...no pending work....no homework....and what's more after all that ^#%#&@@*&!*&@# you sure warrant time off to enjoy the better things in life rather than to sit with a bunch of books when your biggest problem in life will be whether to study the Lobry de Bruyn Van Ekenstein rearrangement or Wolf-Kischner reaction!!! :o :o".

Frankly speaking, the only way to end the war is to tune the wrong half of me and try and convert it to the right half. Now, the poser is choosing which half to tune........

Woes as of today....

It is not intentionally that i choose to begin my first post on a melacholy note...but i am helpless as it is by default that my life goes on the way it does and the things that hav to be, hav to be.
I'm home alone....majorly(ok..i kno that ain't a word in the english language) wasting my time when i'm supposed to be studying for my chem assignment tommorow.
Wat i did i do after coming frm skool?? showered, ate, watched tv, came online, talked over da fone, came online again....n am typing this completely useless blog which i doubt anyone'll ever read.....pathetic i know...!!
But right now after passing my 11th(:D) n moving into 12th which translates to hours of intensely mind-numbing physics, chem n math...not to mention evening-dates with undecipherable lines of code, i thnk i reserve the right to use(rather misuse) my time as i please. While i thnk of what more to scribble...

*Highlights*
- amazing weather, too sexy...jus right for footer or throwball!! :D
- physics assgn. today....wasn't too bad...expecting around 18+ on 25...we'll c
- oooh yea....iit coaching selections dis week....i thnk i shud get thru math n chem(*praying wid eyes shut*)
*end of hightlights*

My cousin shreya....shez gone totally mad!! :O...She, bhanu n abhiram 've come up wid dis crazy idea of wanting to fool their entire class!! i mean...c'mon..how jobless can u really get??? Anywayz, she asked me for some ideas n to her annoyance, i after much thought, reflection and brainstorming informed her that i could procure not an ounce of prank-material.
Well, u can't blame me can u?? i'm already looking dismally at the total mayhem my life's become!! :(
oops...i will also hav to talk to KSB about my physics classes....bin bunking so many of them tht i hav hardly a feeble chance of getting in!! Anyway, fingers crossed!!!
Right now i'm really really thankful to mom coz she's made it her personal mission to make me plan my day n stick to my plan!!! if it weren't for her...i'd hav bin doing precisely this yesterday, day before and the entire week before too!! :O :O
I think now i can safely go study chem, smug that i hav misused my time as i pleased and am moving towards the more dismal things in life out of my own, free will and NOT, i repeat NOT because i don't want to face my mom's condemning ok-why-haven't-you-studied glare.
Until i am done with structures and trends and get enough free time on hand to write another post, Astelevegos!!
